Here are some responses from people regarding the “Wet cell phone recovery” post. Apparently, there are people out there that have need of a site like this. And need it for strange reasons. Regarding the Water damage issue, most of the responses I get have to do with dropping a cell phone into the pool, or spilling a drink onto their cell phone and other stuff like that.

Here are a few of the emails I’ve recived. And, please note that I have edited some of them for language and removed the names.

“My girlfriend recently threw my cell phone into the toilet after she discovered I was making out with someone else. She tried to flush it, but thankfully I have a low flow toilette. Thank you. I followed the “Rice Method” and it worked great.”

“Other day, feeding my kids. My son knocked over the milk on the table. Milked soaked my phone. I followed the guide and replaced the LCD Screen on Nokia 5310. It works good now.”

“Some #$%% *@# Puked in my purse the other day. When I discovered it, my new Nokia N97 was doing the backstroke in some stranger’s pool of steaming yellow vomit. I followed what you said on your site about a wet cell phone, and it DID NOT work. I had to send it in for repair. Thanks for nothing”

Well “G”, my instructions weren’t really based on “steaming yellow vomit”. The method for wet cell phone recovery was based on the water damage being from something not as… thick… as vomit. And with that disclaimer, here is the final email about wet cell phone recovery.

“I work as a nurse and a while ago I was helping to prep a younger gal for childbirth. As I was checking her dilatation, her water broke. I had my phone in my front pocket, and it was soaked. I was covered in Amniotic Fluid from the waist down. I searched for wet cell phone recovery and ended up at your site. My cell phone has been revived from “Water” damage. Thanks for the tip.”

Well, there you have it. Water damage to a cell phone can be fixed. I can’t really say I would even want to fix mine if it was covered in either someone else’s vomit or Amniotic fluid. But at least we know that a wet cell phone can be recovered.
